Convert text in fields into WKT geographical information.
This module will geocode just about anything you throw at it including addresses, GPX files, geo-tagged images, and KML files.
One use is to have a field that accepts KML data (which you can copy-and-paste to and from Google Earth), which Geocoder then converts into WKT format to use in a Geofield, and then OpenLayers maps.
