Fonant provides virus-scanned and spam-filtered e-mail accounts.

Sending Mail

Mail can be sent via the Fonant mail servers using authenticated SMTP (i.e. you connect with a username and a password). Using authentication means that mail can be sent from any internet connection, anywhere in the world.

Receiving Mail

Messages can be auto-forwarded to other e-mail accounts, or stored for collection on the Fonant e-mail server. Messages thought to contain viruses or spam are quarantined on the server for a month. Should a quarantined message be required, it can be released from quarantine for delivery on request.

Spam

Fonant’s spam filtering is extremely effective, and blocks almost all spam at the server, so you never see it. The filters can be customised if needed for your particular e-mail needs. All filtered messages are kept in quarantine for 31 days, so in the unlikely event of a valid message being filtered we can release it to you on request.

Backup Mail Servers

Fonant uses Gradwell.com’s secondary e-mail server service. This means that even if the main e-mail server is unavailable, people can still send e-mail to you. The sent mail is stored by Gradwell.com and then automatically sent on as soon as the mail server is operational again.
